Founder President of Dayananda Sagar Institutions, the Late
Shri R DayanandaSagar had a great vision: Education for all sections of society.
He set up the Mahatma Gandhi Vidya Peetha Education
Trust (MGVP).
A role model 
inthe field of Education, his dream has created a place
for itself in the history ofIndianeducation, winning the hearts of
many, far and wide.
Smt. Chandramma Sagar, wife of the founder, was a Doctor by profession – a triple FRCS from London, Edinburgh and Glasgow. She was in the panel of Doctors for the President of India.
Mission
To build professional expertise in application of knowledge with necessary infrastructure hands on drawing facility and inculcate a mission in student community of discipline dedication and innovativeness to serve country and humanity at large.To create the inspirational foundation and impart professional excellence in education. To create awareness of latest state of art technology by continuous interaction with industry and need based inputs to students. To have flexible syllabi with continuous interactions with the university to get over obsolescence.
History
Dayananda Sagar Institutions, one of the front-line educational institutions in the city of Bangalore, India is managed by the Mahatma Gandhi Vidya Peeta Trust.
Sagar Institutions were founded in the year 1960, by a great visionary, the Late Sri R. Dayananda Sagar -a freedom-fighter,educationst, legal luminary and a great scholar. He was a Fellow Member of Royal College of Economics and was a Bar-at-Law in England. A great Parliamentarian, he served as a member of the Council of Ministers in the erstwhile Mysore State.
The educational institutions were founded in 1979 with the establishment of the Mahatma Gandhi Vidya Peeta Trust, which over the last twentyfive years have seen tremendous growth under the stewardship of the sons of this illustrious parents, Dr.
D. Hemachandra Sagar and Dr.
D. Premchandra Sagar.
Today, a learning Center of academic excellence, the DayanandaSagar Educational Institutions are a home for over 4000 students from across the world, pursuing study streams from kindergarten to post graduate doctoral programmes.
